Kitchen Trends for 2018

Have you resolved that 2017 was your last Christmas in your old kitchen? If so, you'll want to know what's happening in kitchen design now and be inspired for an exciting year ahead that includes a NEW kitchen!

Statement shelving and super storage

Open shelving is becoming an increasingly popular way to make a stylish statement in the kitchen and showcase your personality with small accessories and even deluxe food items placed on shelves. This type of shelving can also be integrated into the kitchen island providing easy access to cookware or a great place to store cookery books.

However hidden storage is also becoming more important than ever for hiding equipment you don't want on display, or a way of creating a super sleek look, even the fridge freezer and ovens can be concealed.

Multiple ovens

A row of co-ordinating ovens places in tall wall cabinets is a trend that is set to stay. As well as making a visual impact the design is practical too. As our lifestyles get busier it makes sense to cook multiple dishes simultaneously and if you love to entertain then this solution is perfect for you.

Industrial look

Choosing an industrial style in the kitchen is set to grow and in 2018 you will see an increase in features such as concrete effect finishes and open style metal frame storage. This look also looks fantastic when contrasted with metallic finishes such as light fittings and hardware.

Patina Finishes

There is also a general shift towards more unique surfaces in the kitchen with patinas becoming more popular. Providing a new way to introduce the metallic finish in your home the look can be as subtle or as dramatic as you like with many different finishes available for a personalised kitchen.

Wood Veneers

Combining cabinet colours and materials adds interest to your design and there has been an increase in choosing a quality wood veneer for this purpose. Wood veneer has a subtle, characterful feel that contrasts beautifully with gloss and matt door finishes whether it is used to accent open shelving, breakfast bars or full kitchen cabinetry it creates a homely unique style.
