Here’s an interesting post from liligo (the traveller’s blog) on the value of £1 in different countries around the world. While the average sliced white loaf now costs around £1 in the UK, you’ll be surprised what that same amount affords you depending on where you are.
For example, while the same loaf of bread is around the same price in Vienna, Austria, so are 3 cans of beer. And it gets more surprising, for example;
